A dead blue whale (Balaenoptera musculus) washed up along with its ejected fetus on Bean Hollow State Beach near Pescadero Beach, Northern California, in early October, 2010. Scientists suspect that the whale was struck by a large ship and ejected a fetus before beaching itself. (GPS coordinates: 37.227072, -122.410529).
